Multicultural Education Project Development Team
The Multicultural Education Program Development Team is a working group of students, staff and faculty who volunteer their time to help realize the goals of the program.
Members work on a variety projects during their 9 or 12 month tenure. These projects aid in the design of an interactive and comprehensive Multicultural Education program for the campus. MEP will engage the entire UC Berkeley community in an ongoing series of programs that will positively affect the campus climate regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion.
MEP has a 5 year timeline and thus we will rotate Development Team members every 12 months.
This team will consist of five faculty and staff who will assist the project leaders, Sidalia Reel and Billy Curtis, and Craig Alimo. This project has a 5 year timeline and thus we will rotate members every 9-12 months.
The Commitment
9 or 12 month commitment Approximately 2 hours weekly, including a bi-weekly meeting and sub-committee tasks
Team Member Responsibilities:
- Lend your creative expertise to the development of the MultiCultural Education Program
- Assist with development of training workshops and materials
- Determine training topics and curricula materials
- Recruit and select trainers to participate in program
- Conduct evaluation, modify program as appropriate
- Assist with development of campus diversity consultant program
- Assist with development of online diversity assessment and training tools
- Attend bi-weekly meetings during your tenure (~4 hours/month)
- Complete group and individual tasks between meetings (~4-6 hours/month)
Experience & Qualities of Development Team
We are looking for UCB faculty, staff, and students
- With experience implementing a training program
- With experience attending diversity education programs AND have given thought to how they would do things differently
- Who have experience working on a team—collaboratively
- Strong demonstrated personal commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
