John Berry

I am the Librarian responsible for the Native American Studies and Comparative Ethnic Studies collections, within the Ethnic Studies Library. There, I develop the collections and serve as the reference person for those collections. I consult with Faculty, Staff, Students, and community members to assist them with their information needs regarding those collections or other informational requests they may have. I also conduct special projects, such as database development. I participate in the functions and activities of the Native American Staff Council. I serve on committees; for example I serve on the Librarians of U.C. Berkeley Diversity Committee (LAUC-B Diversity) and others where invited.

Beyond UC Berkeley, I am a member of professional library associations / organizations such as The American Indian Library Association, The Native American and Indigenous Scholars Association and am a member of many other relevant organizations and associations such as the National Congress of American Indians, and the National Indian Child Welfare Association.

Additionally, I am not afraid to speak truth to power regarding the needs of our communities and am a published poet.
