Sara Thacker is Director and Ombudsperson for the Staff Ombuds Office, which provides informal, confidential conflict resolution and problem-solving services for all Staff, Non-Senate Academics, and Faculty who perform management functions. When issues of equity and inclusion arise in the workplace, the Staff Ombuds Office is a safe place to voice and clarify concerns, understand conflict situations, and find effective ways to respond.
She taught courses in negotiation, mediation, and multi-party dispute resolution and served as a mediator for the EEOC and DC Office of Human Rights. Thacker holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Master’s degree in conflict resolution from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the International Ombudsman Association.
